Part 1- Make the dough
- Mix the flour, salt & sugar in a bowl.
- Add the yeast and warm water to bowl
- Knead the dough until it feels soft and can be stretched out. This should take at least 10 minutes
- Cover and leave the dough to rise for at least an hour. Its size should have doubled
Part 2- Prepare the sesame and syrup while dough rises
- Mix the molasses syrup with water until you have a thin liquid.
Part 3- Making the bread
- Cut the dough into four equal pieces.
- Roll each piece into a cylindrical shape.
- Make a loop with the dough to turn into a ring. Ensure that the ends of the loop are secure.
- Coat each piece with the molasses water. Then, repeat it with the sesame seeds.
- Place the bread in the oven until golden brown.
You can pair Simit with an omelette. Or have it just by itself.
