How To Make Chicken Shawarmas

Guide to an affordable and healthy party food with an easy recipe.

Why not make shawarmas?

Spoiler alert: It costs under ​​£3 per serving (Yes, we did the maths!)
And you will have leftover ingredients for your next party!

The ingredients you will need (serves 5 people):

Main Ingredients

Chicken

500 grams

Yogurt

150 grams

Lemons

2 juiced, 1 cut into wedges as topping

Ginger garlic paste

3 tablespoons

Chilli powder or Cayenne pepper

Depends on your spice tolerance

Chopped Coriander

1 bunch

Garam Masala

1 tablespoon

Cumin

1 tablespoon

Olive oil

3 tablespoon

Salt

1 tablespoon each

Flatbreads

5 pieces

And we suggest some additional toppings

  1. Chopped vine tomatoes
  2. Chopped lettuce
  3. Tahini sauce
  4. Garlic mayo

Part 1 - Marinate

  • Except for chicken and flatbread, put all the main ingredients into a blender until it becomes a smooth paste
  • In a bowl, place the chicken and coat with the paste
  • Marinate for a minimum of 4-6 hours but of course, the longer, the better.

Part 2 - Cook the chicken

  • Pan-fry the chicken with olive oil

Part 3 - Serve

  • To serve, offer a platter with the chicken, flatbreads and toppings that lets your guests make their own wraps!
